Class 5 have started looking at Living Things and Their Habitats in Science this term, and this week have looked at how some plants reproduce. We looked at the difference between sexual and asexual reproduction and how some plants need both male and female gametes in order to fertilise. We set up an investigation to explore how the colour of a flowers petals effects the process of polination and therefore fertilisation and are ready for a bright, sunny day to collect our results after half term.
We then turned our attention to asexual reproduction and learnt that some plants only need a mother plant to reproduce. We propogated a strawberry plant and hope to see that it has started to reproduce after we return from the half term. Keep your eyes peeled to see if we have some new shoots!
